Plain Talk…Since 1900
As I put the camera up to my eye, I came to a realization: I was capturing the relics of 2 gone by ages. The “GOLDEN AGE” of the daily hard printed newspaper has come to an end, as technology marches forward and the older generation slowly dies off…the dinosaurs like myself who remember getting up on Sunday morning, waiting our turn for the “funny pages” and the Parade section of the paper. Dad always had the funnies, while Mom perused the Parade. I am the 3rd of 4 kids…by the time I got the paper, it was in fairly rough shape…though not as bad as when my younger sister got it.
The second relic? The building billboard. Or as some call them today: “The Fading Billboard” I love them. The brick buildings from the early 20th or late 19th century, sporting the advertisements of the past, mostly faded, but always there…until the scourges of time and elements wash them into oblivion.
