For winter’s rains and ruins are over,
And all the seasons of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins

A.C. (Algernon Charles) Swinburne (1837โ€“1909), British poet, critic. Atalanta in Calydon, chorus, st. 4 (1865).

  1. Wild flowers, I love wild flowers! Beautiful photo M. – so much beauty can be found for the ones who have eyes for it… SPRING is here ๐Ÿ™‚

    • The tulips must be popping there as well Marion? I love your country in the spring. It’s so green everywhere, and the tulip fields are amazing: ablaze in color. As you approach Amsterdam…well then the bright colors of the painted homes make up for the loss of nature and urbanization, ah such a beautiful country…everywhere you look. Oh…I love the waterways, the houseboats…what a country… the coast, the inland beauty of the fields…yummy!

      • Haha M., you are making me chuckle, happy about your enthusiasm! The tulip fields are in the north-west of Holland and I live in the south. But yesterday I photographed the tulips that I bought. They were so lovely I just couldn’t resist. You can find the picture in yesterday’s post.
        You really REALLY should visit the south-east where I was born. I think I left a big piece of my heart back there. Let’s go and find it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I hit the computer screen trying to pick the flowers!

  3. Not fair to tease me when it SNOWED yesterday (okay, only a little, and it was quite warm today– BUT IT STILL DON’T FEEL LIKE SPRING).

    • This was taken last year actually. I am missing spring too. That’s why I chose to run this photo. My favorite of all my spring photos….it’s cold here, frost on the ground. The tulips are up and are beautiful…but spring is weird this year…very weird. In the mountains elevations a few miles away, snow yesterday and night before. We escaped down here in the valley.

  4. Oooh to see flowers again!! Seems like it’s still ages away. At least most of the snow’s gone — though they say it may be falling from the sky again this week. ARGH!

  5. Great photo. The azaleas are in full bloom here – fushia, coral, white, pink, red – they are just lovely. The dogwoods already spent their beauty. I saw tulips blooming a few streets over. Aaahh, spring…beauty renewed.

  6. Great pictures always brighten up the day.
